This white drug re-order form can be posted, faxed or dropped in to the clinic, 24 hours prior to you needing your prescription. Prescription orders will no longer be received over the phone or at the front desk without this from.

CHILDHOOD IMMUNISATIONS

We provide all the standard childhood vaccinations such as Varicella (Chicken Pox), Meningitis B and MMR and most of these immunisations are free of charge (click here for more information).

When visiting your doctor he / she may preform blood tests or refer you for further investigations and you are advised to follow up the results of these investigations.

The information below is steps which you can follow to get your results.

BLOOD RESULTS

Presently the blood tests taken at the clinic are sent to our supporting hospital the Adelaide & Meath Hospital, incorporating the National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght Dublin 24.

Generally depending on the tests required, we receive results within one to two weeks and all tests are reviewed by your doctor.

Some of the blood tests ordered may take longer as they may have to be processed in another hospital such as St. James or the National Virus Reference Lab (UCD).

It is in your own interest to follow up your blood tests that have been taken. This can be achieved by attending the clinic, emailing or simply phoning.

URINE SAMPLES

A urine test may be performed by your doctor or nurse for a numerous reasons in order to gain a good clinical diagnosis.

Your doctor or nurse may want to assess whether you have a urinary tract, bladder or kidney infection. This can be identified by a dipstick test of the urine or by sending a sample to the lab for analysis. By doing so the lab can identify what is the best antibiotic for treating the infection.

The clinic will provide you with a sterile container called an MSU Jar. Urine samples cannot under any circumstances be accepted in any other form of container as the sample may be contaminated. In the interest of hygiene and best practice the sample should be given to your nurse or doctor while he/she is wearing gloves.

If you are a parent and are concerned about your child having a urinary tract infection then you should speak with your doctor. Where appropriate he or she could provide you with the necessary equipment for obtaining a sample from a child or baby.

Urine samples that are sent to the lab usually take approximately one week to be reported on. It is advisable you call for your result.

X-RAY, ULTRASOUND, & MRI

-ray, ultrasound and MRI scans are all valuable methods of investigation which may be requested by your doctor. Depending on the scan centre results are generally faxed or posted to the clinic within one week.

Generally any letters sent by a consultant in the public / private hospital may take up 3-4 weeks merely due to administration.

SWAB RESULTS

A swab test collects a small amount of material that can be analysed by a microbiologist in the lab. If you are suffering from a wound that is slow to heal or is producing a lot of exudate or fluid, your doctor or nurse may take a swab of the wound.

This is to ensure there is no underlying infection. If there is infection in the wound the swab results may depict what antibiotic is an appropriate treatment. Swabs may also be taken to screen for sexually transmitted infections. You can expect your swab results to take up to two weeks to be reported on.

Cryotherapy is a pain treatment that uses a method of localized freezing temperatures to deaden an irritated nerve. Cryotherapy is also used as a method of treating localized areas of some cancers (called cryosurgery), such as prostate cancer and to treat abnormal skin cells.

Physiotherapy helps people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. We use mainly physical means such as exercise, manipulation, mobilisation, massage and electrotherapy to help patients of all ages to manage pain and prevent disease.
